Symptom

When you try to attach a document that you have already uploaded into a folder in SmartVault to an entry in QuickBooks using the Move option provided by the SmartVault Toolbar, after you click Move, it appears as though the document was attached correctly.

However, if you then try to view the document you attached by clicking on the folder icon on the SmartVault Toolbar, the document does not display in the Document List dialog box.

  • You are using the Multiple Windows view in QuickBooks 2012 but the window is not maximized, and the SmartVault Toolbar displays as inactive, or grayed out for all QuickBooks transactions except for the Home, Snapshots, and Reports page.
  • Error: The QuickBooks SDK has failed to register the SmartVault user interface extension displays when you open QuickBooks 2012.

Symptoms

  • Error: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)) displays when you click the Attach (paperclip) icon on the SmartVault Toolbar or when you open the SmartVault Inbox and then click Add.
  • The SmartVault Toolbar displays as active, but when you click the Attach (paperclip) icon on the SmartVault Toolbar, nothing happens. (The Attach Documents dialog box does not display.)
  • After you double-click on the Documents (folder) icon on the SmartVault Toolbar to open the Documents List dialog box, when you click Add nothing happens.
  • When you open the SmartVault Inbox and then click Add, nothing happens.

Note: When these symptoms occur, you can still upload documents to SmartVault by dragging and dropping documents onto the SmartVault Toolbar or by dragging and dropping documents into the SmartVault Inbox.

  • You are working in a hosted environment, and when you add new QuickBooks company files to SmartVault, the SmartVault Toolbar does not display when you open the company file.
  • SmartVault displays the following error message: Error: This application has not accessed this QuickBooks company data file before. The QuickBooks administrator must grant an application permission to access a QuickBooks company data file for the first time. After closing this message, the QuickBooks company file opens and the SmartVault toolbar is gray or inactive.
