SmartVault Release Notes for June 2015

This release includes bug fixes for customers on SmartVault plans for Intuit Lacerte and ProSeries Tax. Here’s a summary of the fixes implemented in this release:

 

  • We’ve resolved an issue preventing some browsers from displaying the new navigation sidebar. Most customers reported experiencing this issue with Internet Explorer.
  • Customers using Internet Explorer should now have access to the page navigation controls that allow customers to browse clients in the Client List page.
  • In response to some of the recent ongoing issues that delayed email notifications and search indexing, our engineering team has made improvements to the SmartVault infrastructure that will significantly decrease the chances of these delays from reoccurring.

This release introduces major features and some bug fixes for customers on SmartVault plans for Intuit Lacerte and ProSeries Tax. Here’s a summary of the changes implemented in this release:

 

  • We’ve reshaped our DMS data migration experience, giving customers an easier and more streamlined experience when migrating to SmartVault.
  • Our new DMS Data Migration tool is now available.
  • The Connected Desktop now supports viewing and working with your entire SmartVault account in the new Files View.
  • The Dashboard in the SmartVault Portal has a persistent navigation sidebar available on every page.
  • There is a new menu offering account tasks and other common menu options in the SmartVault Dashboard.
  • You can now access help articles relevant to each section of the SmartVault Dashboard from the SmartVault Dashboard menu.
  • The SmartVault trial is now limited to 10 imports and 10 clients.
  • Various bug fixes

 

We’ve reshaped our DMS data migration experience:

We’ve introduced a new, easier way to migrate data from Intuit DMS to SmartVault. Our introductory wizard will now guide customers through creating their own custom folder template by joining their existing DMS folder structure and SmartVault’s client sharing folder structure. After completing this folder setup, customers can import data and clients from their DMS database to immediately start experiencing SmartVault.

Our new DMS Data Migration tool is now available:

As a part of our new DMS data migration experience, we now offer an improved DMS Data Migration tool to help customers easily import their entire DMS database to SmartVault. The DMS Data Migration tool is an additional purchase set at a one-time charge of $99.

 


The Connected Desktop now supports working with your entire SmartVault account in the new Files View:

The Files View in Connected Desktop now allows all tax-enabled accounts to view and work with their non-client related containers, vaults, folders, and files in the Connected Desktop. Similar to the current Advanced View in the SmartVault Portal, the new Files View in Connected Desktop displays all of your files in SmartVault as a tree that you can expand and collapse as needed.

 

You can access the features already available in the Connected Desktop to work on any non-client files, such as the integrated scanner, file sharing abilities, drag and drop capability, etc.  You can also switch between the Files View and the pre-existing Clients View to accelerate your workflow when completing tax-related tasks.

The Dashboard in the SmartVault Portal has a persistent navigation sidebar available on every section:

A sidebar in the Dashboard now exists for quick navigation between important areas in the Dashboard. No matter the section of the Dashboard, the navigation sidebar appears on the left of the page and allows customers to navigate to a new section or to return to the Dashboard’s main page. Additionally, each section will now display its name at the top of the page so customers can easily identify each section of the Dashboard.

 


There is a new menu offering account tasks and other common menu options in the SmartVault Dashboard:

The new menu is displayed across the top of each section of the Dashboard and offers customers a choice of account tasks and other various options. From this menu, customers can manage groups, change account settings, download SmartVault applications, and more. Customers access this menu by clicking on their account name.

 


You can now access help articles relevant to each section of the SmartVault Dashboard:

As customers navigate through each section of the SmartVault Dashboard, a contextual help menu will display relevant help articles to the current section. To access the help menu, customers click on the question mark icon in the SmartVault Dashboard menu displayed across the top of each page.

 


The SmartVault Tax Accounting trial is now limited to 10 imports and 10 clients:

For customers who trial SmartVault, we’ve introduced a limitation for the number of concurrent clients and the number of total Intuit DMS imports in a trial SmartVault account.

 

Each trialing customer can have up to 10 clients in SmartVault at a time—meaning that customers can print a tax return or import clients from their tax application any number of times as long as the number of clients in SmartVault doesn’t exceed 10.

 

On the other hand, trialing customers who import from DMS are allowed a total of 10 imports—meaning that once a customer has imported 10 clients from DMS, no additional imports from DMS are possible.

 

Purchasing a SmartVault plan will allow customers to import unlimited clients from Intuit tax applications and purchasing our new DMS Data Migration tool will allow customers unlimited imports from Intuit DMS.
