Clearing the PTDesktop folder

Overview

You may encounter an issue printing from LaCerte or ProSeries where you have to clear the PTDesktop folder. Here are some instructions on how to clear this folder so that you can print with LaCerte or ProSeries as normal. It is very similar to clearing the Connected Desktop cache. After completing these steps, you may also want to Clear the Connected Desktop cache to give both programs a fresh start. Please refer to the following article    Clear the Connected Desktop cache

Steps

  1. Right-Click mouse.png on the  from the bottom left of your screen and click on File Explorer. Just like the screen shot below, type in %localappdata% and hit Enter on your keyboard.


     
  2. First locate and Click the Intuit folder and then navigate and Open the following folders in this sequence below.


     
  3. Once you get to the SmartVault folder, Copy and Paste any files you see listed here to another location on your computer such as your Desktop.
    Please note* The files listed here are print jobs that did not get uploaded to SmartVault yet. Some files may contain the client's name that still needs to be printed to help keep track of what needs to be reprinted. 
     
  4. After copying the files to a new location on your computer, you may then Delete everything in this folder so that it is empty. 


     

Considerations

If you were having an issue with LaCerte or ProSeries printing, you may want to also Clear the Connected Desktop cache to give you a fresh start. Please refer to the following article    Clear the Connected Desktop cache
