Configure a Canon CaptureOnTouch Scanner

Overview

If you have a supported Canon scanner with the CaptureOnTouch® software, these instructions will help you create two profiles that allow you to scan documents directly to the SmartVault Inbox and the SmartVault Toolbar with the touch of a button.

 

With the Canon P-215II or P-208II scanners, no configuration is needed for SmartVault, and the profiles used to scan to SmartVault already exist in Canon software.

What you need

  • A supported Canon scanner.
  • The SmartVault Desktop software.
  • A Windows 10, 8.1, Windows 7, or Vista operating system.
  • The scanner must be plugged in, with drivers installed, and it can scan documents to a folder on your computer.
  • Scanner must be turned on, open, with a blue continuous light behind the power button and the ‘auto-start’ switch on the back configured to ‘Off’.

Steps For Configuring the Canon Profiles Manually

SmartVault Toolbar Profile

  1. From the Start menu, click All Programs and select the folder that matches your model of Canon scanner, i.e. Canon P-215
  2. Run the CaptureOnTouch program from that folder.
  3. Create a new job in the Job List by clicking the + button in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
  4. Type the name of job, ‘SmartVault Toolbar‘ in the available field in the Job List.
  5. For the Output Method Selection field, choose ‘Send to Application’.
  6. Select the ‘Start Button’ for the Button Assignment field.
  7. The next three settings are optional. Leave all as default.
  8. Click the Output Setting button.
  9. Click the Application button.
  10. In the Select Application window, browse to Computer >’ C:\ > Program Files (x86) or Program Files > SmartVault’.
  11. Select the ‘SVault.Client.ScanReceived.exe’ file and click the Open button.

SmartVault Inbox Profile

  1. From the Start menu, click All Programs and select the folder that matches your model of Canon scanner, i.e. Canon P-215
  2. Run CaptureOnTouch program from that folder.
  3. Create a new job in the Job List by clicking the + button in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
  4. Type the name of job, ‘SmartVault Inbox‘ in the available field in the Job List.
  5. For the Output Method Selection field, choose ‘Send to Application’.
  6. Select the ‘Start Button’ for the Button Assignment field.
  7. The next three settings are optional. Leave all as default.
  8. Click the Output Setting button.
  9. Click the Application button.
  10. In the Select Application window, browse to Computer > ‘C:\ > Program Files (x86) or Program Files > SmartVault’.
  11. Select the ‘SVault.Client.ScanReceivedInbox.exe’ file and click the Open button. For more advanced feature settings, review your Canon documentation for details.

Considerations

Supported Canon scanner models: Canon ImageFormula P-215, DR-C125, DR-M160

 

To disable Duplex scanning you must turn off "Scans in Full Auto mode" in the profile.

Then click Scanner Setting button and select Scanning Side: Simplex.
