Failed to Upload the Following Document


While printing to SmartVault from Lacerte or ProSeries, you may receive this error for a variety of reasons.

Failed to upload the following document:
Client: <client name>
File: <file name>
Reason: A vault with the same name already exists in this account. Please choose another.



Usually happens if you have multiple clients in Lacerte or ProSeries with the same Client ID. A use case we have seen is when you have the same different tax types for the same client and have used the same id. Often happens when you use the last name as the client id, instead of a unique alpha-numeric value.


For example,

Client Name

Client ID

Smith, John (Individual) Smith
Smith, John (S-Corp)



Edit the Client ID for the so that each client in Lacerte/ProSeries has a unique id, then print again.
