When you click a client in the Client List, the client's files and folders display in the Document View pane. Clients View in Connected Desktop If your account has access to the Clients View in Connected Desktop, you can use this view to expediently work with your clients' vaults, folders, and files directly. Currently, only our tax-enabled accounts make use of the Clients View in the Connected Desktop. Document View Pane You can work with a client's folders and files in the Document View pane; specifically, you can view, edit, add, or delete a client's files or folders in the Document View pane. This is the main working space in Connected Desktop. Document View Toolbar The Document View toolbar displays the actions you can perform on a file or folder within the Document View pane. The Document View toolbar is contextual and changes which actions are selectable based on whether you are working with a file or a folder. File Locking in Connected Desktop You can lock a file in Connected Desktop without taking any additional action other than opening the file. After doing so, any other users are informed that the file is locked for editing. The file automatically unlocks when it is closed, making it available to other users. Files View in Connected Desktop If your account has access to the Files View in Connected Desktop, you can see all of your available files and folders within the Connected Desktop. Previously, the Connected Desktop was used solely for working with tax client vaults and the files and folders within. However, with the Files View, you can now access any account, container, vault, folder, or file that you could previously only access through the SmartVault client portal. Issues in Connected Desktop The Client List pane organizes all of your clients in one place. When you click a client in the Client List, the client's files and folders display in the Document View pane. Search Bar The Search Bar is used to filter your Client List to display only the client or clients you need to work with.
