Give Guests Access to the SmartVault Inbox



SmartVault Administrators and Vault Managers may allow users in an account with a guest license to use the SmartVault Inbox to scan, upload, and download documents and Reckon or QuickBooks company files in the following scenarios:


  • A guest user wants to scan and upload documents using a Canon CaptureOnTouch scanner, Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner or a TWAIN-compliant (regular) scanner with the SmartVault Inbox.

  • Troubleshoot a Reckon or QuickBooks company file issue for a guest user in your account by using the SmartVault Inbox to quickly and easily transfer the Reckon or QuickBooks company file back and forth with the guest for a short period of time.

  • A guest user wants to upload a Reckon or QuickBooks company file for you to review only a few times a year, but does not need to perform any other tasks that require the SmartVault Desktop software (attaching documents to Reckon or QuickBooks entries using the SmartVault Toolbar or backing up and restoring Reckon or QuickBooks company files using the SmartVault Desktop software).

  • A user in your account with a guest license needs to upload a large file into SmartVault but is having trouble getting the large file to upload through the SmartVault Portal.


If your client is a guest user in your account, share this link or click this link to download the SmartVault desktop software.   


If your client is not a guest user, they can sign into SmartVault and download the software from the SmartVault Portal:

  1. Click SmartVault Apps for Microsoft Windows in the Task bar on the side.

  2. Click Run.

  3. On the Security Warning dialog box, click Run or Yes.

  4. Review the welcome message, and then click Next.

  5. Select the I accept the terms of the License Agreement check box, and then click Next.

  6. Specify installation folder for the SmartVault Desktop software, and then click Next.

  7. If you want to create desktop shortcuts for the SmartVault Launchpad, the SmartVault Portal, and the SmartVault Inbox on your computer’s desktop, select the Create desktop shortcut check box for each item you want to create a desktop shortcut for, and then click Next.

  8. Click Finish.
