As a Guest, you'll work within another person's or company's SmartVault account. The account owner chooses what you can and can't see in their SmartVault account, including the documents you can work with. Use this guide to start using SmartVault as a Guest.
When the SmartVault account owner invited you to join the account, SmartVault sent you an activation email. Check your inbox for this email. The sender is email@example.com. Be sure to check your Junk or Spam folder as well.
If you can't find the activation email, you can have it resent, by following the instructions found here - Resending the Activation Email or by contacting the SmartVault account owner.
Before you can work with documents stored in the SmartVault Client Portal, you must sign in.
On signing into the Client Portal, you can view the vault(s) or folder(s) the account owner chose to share with you.
By default, the time zone within the client portal is (GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada). If you are in a different time zone, you'll set your time zone in the My Info section of the main menu. Setting your time zone allows SmartVault to apply accurate dates and times to your documents.
As a Guest on a SmartVault account, the owner of the account grants you different abilities inside their vaults or folders. You can imagine a vault as a very secure filing cabinet. Each vault contains folders, and those folders contain files.
Click on vaults and folders to move around in the SmartVault account. You can use the file path near the top of your screen to move back to a location in the SmartVault account. The file path changes as you move around in the SmartVault account.
As you navigate through the SmartVault account, select a folder to store a document in the SmartVault account.
Once you upload documents to the SmartVault Client Portal, you can view your documents anytime, anywhere. You can also view files added to the vault or folder by other users.
Click on the file name to open a file in the browser.
You can preview these files in the browser, as well as perform several actions on the files. See Previewing Documents using the SmartVault Client Portal for more information.
An account owner can grant a Guest additional abilities that allow the Guest to delete files from a vault or folder, modify a filename, and upload files to a vault or folder
However, as a Guest, you can never create or delete vaults or folders or invite other users, clients, or guests to the SmartVault account. Additionally, you might not have all of the abilities outlined in this guide, as the account owner controls the abilities you possess for a vault, folder, or file.
Though the account owner can receive notifications when you upload or download files within their SmartVault account, you might find you need to send a link to a file, folder, or vault via email or via SmartVault. Use these abilities to send a link to a user within the SmartVault account or to get a copy of the link.
